The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Habit 1: Be Proactive
"Habit 1 is the key to unlocking all the other habits and that's why it comes first. It says, "I am the captain of my life. I can choose my attitude. I'm responsible for my own happiness or unhappiness. I am in the driver's seat of my destiny, not just a passenger."

In my opinion to be proactive is to be a active citizen, volunteer work, school work, and maybe even community hours. Just to even help out your own environment is being proactive and productive. Helping out around your home doing chores and just helping out your peers out of kindness is a great example of being proactive. I consider proactive as someone who is honest, clean, and with lots of energy. You can be proactive if you're constantly in a bad mood. Being in a bad mood can ruin a lot of things for you and even for other. so you constantly need to be reminding yourself that being in a bad mood is not going to get you anywhere. Also being rude is a habit that people need to get over because for one being rude is not a good look on anybody and it shows a reflection of who you are. You don't want anybody so see you as a person that is rude and mean. Its honestly up to you how you want your attitude to be. No one else picks your attitude, you pick it yourself. So choose the attitude you know its going to benefit you and others in a mentally, physically, and emotional type of way.

Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind

"Control your own destiny or someone else will." (Jack Welch)

In my opinion what this quote is saying is to control your own destiny, because if you do not then someone else will which just is not right. If you would truly believe in yourself then you would want to choose your own destiny. I feel like if you let someone else choose your destiny you're basically afraid of being yourself, and making yourself look like its okay for someone else to boss you around and tell you what to choose. I know that I would not let myself seem that weak minded and let someone choose my destiny for me because I am my own individual, so I get to choose what I want for myself. if you do not set actual goals for yourself then you're not putting effort in controlling your own destiny.

Habit 3: Put First Things First
"Organize and execute around priorities."

Organizing your priorities is such an important part to do. To execute around your priorities is also important because you need to know what comes first and whats the most important. Moving things aside from your work can be a huge help such as making sure you do the work that is supposed to be done. Receiving feedback is a good way to make sure you're doing good at whatever it is you're doing. A lot of people may not want feedback due to them feeling dependent but you're not supposed to feel like that unless its something you just want for you benefit.

Habit 4: Think Win-Win
"Think win-win or no deal."
In other words have a positive mind set to whatever you are doing because if you don't, then things just may not come out the way you want them too. From experience I can see how this affects us in many ways because it really does effect the way your attitude is. So you need to think win win or else you will basically loose. I'm not saying if you always have a bad mood or a negative energy then you will loose, no, i'm just saying that for many people being in a good mood and with good vibes they can do things way much better.

Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, then to be Understood
"Diagnose before you prescribe."
Image result for seek first to understand then to be understoodTo diagnose is to be smart and expect everything that you may purchase or have anything to do with it. Be smart about it and make sure you know about everything you're going to prescribe to something such as medicine, work, learning on how to work on yourself. It is such an important task because if not that means you are not prepared. If you show that you're willing in diagnose before you prescribe it shows how passionate about how you are with whatever you are getting. If i saw someone seek first on what they are buying to understand i will know they are more mature and more proffessional on what they are getting for themselves. I would feel like i would be able to show some since of trust to them on what they buy, or on what they would want to sell to me.

Habit 6:  Synergize
"The whole is greater than the sum of its parts (1+1=3)"
Image result for synergize definitionSynergize is the habit of creative cooperation. It is teamwork, open-mindedness, and the adventure of finding new solutions to old problems. But it doesn't just happen on its own. It's a process, and through that process, people bring all their personal experience and expertise to the table. Interact or cooperate with one or more other agents to produce a joint effect greater than the sum of effects achieved separately. In my opinion to synergize it also means to just be true to yourself, also to make sure you are doing everything you can to be true to yourself and others. You and many other people can bring to the table some expertise that they may have or would want to show. To put it simply, synergy means "two heads are better than one." Synergize is the habit of creative cooperation. It is teamwork, open-mindedness, and the adventure of finding new solutions to old problems. But it doesn't just happen on its own. It's a process, and through that process, people bring all their personal experience and expertise to the table. Together, they can produce far better results that they could individually. Synergy lets us discover jointly things we are much less likely to discover by ourselves. It is the idea that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.

Habit 7:  Sharpen the Saw
Four Dimensions of Self-Renewal: Physical, Mental, Spiritual, Social/Emotional

Covey uses the common analogy of a woodcutter who is sawing for several days straight and is becoming less and less productive. Sharpen The Saw discusses self-renewal, self-care, self-respect and self-improvement... so as the last chapter of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, I believe this chapter also represents why most people initially decide to read this personal change book... their desire to improve. Also Take care of your body as if you want it, having self care is very important because it helps you check yourself on being healthy physically and mentally. Balancing time for school and making sure you have time for all your school activities and even activities outside of school can be beneficial. Balancing your time and effort always feels best because it makes you fell like a batter person and it shows others how you are really smart about your time and on how you chose it wisely.

Reflection: overall, typing about these seven habits posts I have learn and managed to understand all about these single seven steps. Each one of them is unique in its special way because they all mean something different, or teach you something of the opposite. I would definitely recommend for people to read these seven habits because they can teach you so much while just reading there meanings. I personally feel like reading these has helped me see other peoples perspectives and just pay attention on what others have to say. From reading habit one through seven each have their own meaning that people should really pay attention to, because it would make some people realize what they have been doing wrong and even maybe want to change. Habit number one is to be proactive which i believe is so important because it helps you be active throughout your day, communicate with people, and even help you be social. Habit number two is begin with the end of mind which means to control your life the way you want too, because if you do not others will take advantage and treat you differently and take control of your life. Habit number three is put first things first, which in my opinion is mainly do the important things first because if you do not you might just get carried away and start doing things that are not even that important which can mess up your whole routine of doing important things first. Habit number four is think win win, which is to always be a good sport. If you are always positive about what you are doing then you are always a winner to yourself. Habit number five is seek first to understand, then to be understood which in my opinion means if you want to be heard and for others to care about your feeling and take your thoughts into consideration then, you need to do the exact same thing to others or even to anybody you talk too. Habit number six is synergize which in my opinion means to just be open minded about the new things that come your way and actually take other peoples considerations to take them serious. Habit number seven is sharpen the saw, which in my opinion means to make sure you manage your time wisely and make sure you do everything right without being in a rush. If you are in a rush you might just not do your work as proficient as you may have done it while taking your time.
